Do I need a bone graft or sinus lift ?

If you are in the stage of considering getting dental implants you are already on the good road to restore your smile. Bone grafting also called a bone augmentation is a surgical procedure that tries to replace and or regenerate the missing / lost or weak bone. Some reasons for a loss of bone density are for example :  periodontal (gum) disease, developmental defect, injury or decay and infection.

The upper molars or premolars are typically located near the floor or bottom of the upper sinuses. As the sinus is a hollow space in the skull, the surrounding bone may not be deep enough or dense enough for a long-lasting implant. Your surgeon may opt to augment the area prior to placing the implant in order to improve the success rate of the procedure.
